Rapid, extreme change always disrupts the status quo, creating opportunities. The faster and the more extreme the change, the larger the opportunity potential. I’ve seen this time and time again as an entrepreneur and investor. Extreme change creates opportunities that those who are alert and ready to act can capitalize on.

This week we witnessed one of the biggest changes in US political history. My spider-sense tells me that massive change and consequential opportunities are on the horizon, but I’m not sure what they’ll be and what specifically will cause them. I recognize that understanding this as the situation unfolds is important.

Today I spent time chatting with investors and entrepreneurs to get their way-too-early thoughts on and predictions about what this political change will mean for their respective areas. Everyone is still processing the elections, but what I heard intrigued me. My spider-sense was confirmed. Everyone agreed that massive change is likely, but they pointed out that it won’t all be good. Some people will face headwinds, while others will be aided by tailwinds.

I plan to keep having these conversations over the next few months, especially with entrepreneurs. They’re usually the first people to make sense of massive disruption and act on it.
